During pregnancy it is so important to continue—or start to develop— self-care to support yourself and your growing baby and massage is a perfect piece to incorporate into your practice. Massage reduces stress and supports overall health and well-being, an essential component to the health and well-being of you and your baby.
Prenatal massage can help with many of the discomforts present during pregnancy such as stiffness, backaches, tight necks and shoulders, headaches and swelling. Your body is expanding (pun intended) in a whole new way, and not just in your belly. You have more blood flow, your ribs and hips are expanding, your circulatory and lymph systems are working to a greater capacity. Massage can support all of these changes. Plus it feels really good. And you deserve this!
During prenatal massage I continually check in with my clients on their positioning and comfort—which can often change numerous times during the massage treatment.
